Kannapolis City Schools has announced that it will make up one of the two school days missed due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Michael. The make-up day will be Monday, October 29th.

The make-up day of October 29th will be in addition to the October 30thmake-up day that had previously been announced after two days were missed due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Florence.

Both October 29th and 30th had originally been designated as a teacher workdays in the 2018-2019 school calendar. However, they will now become regular instructional days for all students and staff.

Distribution of report cards also will be delayed slightly due to the missed days of school. Parents will receive their children’s report cards either during parent conferences scheduled for the end of the nine weeks or after the Teacher Work Day scheduled for Tuesday, November 6th.

Altogether, KCS students and staff missed two days of school due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Florence and two days due to Hurricane/Tropical Storm Michael. Students and staff will make up two of those four days missed. KCS leaders feel it is important to preserve instructional time for students, and they want to make sure that second semester make-up days are saved for school time that might be missed due to winter weather in January, February, and March.
