Thomas Wolfe Scholarship for Creative Writing

AXA Achievement Scholarship

The AXA Achievement Scholarship offers college scholarships of $2,500, $10,000 and $25,000 to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. Scholarship winners are known as AXA Achievers. They are ethnically and economically diverse, but they share these qualities: ambition and drive; determination to set and reach goals; respect for self, family and community; ability to succeed in college.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship

Honoring the legacy and character of our nation’s 40th President, the GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program rewards college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education.

Each year, the Program selects numerous recipients to receive a $10,000 scholarship renewable for up to an additional three years – up to $40,000 total per recipient. Awards are for undergraduate study and may be used for education-related expenses, including tuition, fees, books, supplies, room, and board. In addition, Scholars are invited to participate in a special awards program and receive ongoing leadership-development support.

North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship
The North Carolina Teaching Fellows program has officially launched. The program, reestablished by the General Assembly in the 2017 Session, is available through Elon, UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, Meredith College and NC State University. What is Teaching Fellows? The North Carolina Teaching Fellows program is a merit-based, competitive, forgivable loans-for -service program that provides up to $8,250 a year for up to four years to highly-qualified students committed to teaching special education or in a STEM field in a North Carolina public school. The first scholarships will be awarded in Spring 2018 for the 2018-2019 academic year. The online application for prospective fellows will be made available in early December.

Bethel Enrichment Center Community Impact Scholarship
The new Community Impact Scholarship represents the realization of the BEC’s desire to extend our current scholarship program, in existence since 2005, to deserving students in the greater Cabarrus & Rowan County region. Because we believe character, leadership, scholarship and service are integral to the success of our community, the $500 BEC Community Impact Scholarship will be awarded to one student who exhibits these qualities from each of the ten high schools in closest proximity to the Bethel Enrichment Center.

NC State Park Scholarships

A.L. Brown may nominate two of its exceptional Seniors for the highly competitive Park Scholarships awarded by NC State University. Approximately 45 scholarships are awarded each year. Scholarships are awarded by potential scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

The John Montgomery Belk Scholarship Davidson College

The Belk Scholarship recognizes and rewards students of demonstrated intellectual and personal achievement and significant leadership ability.  Up to eight Belk Scholars will be chosen in Davidson's Class of 2022, each receiving an annually renewable scholarship equivalent to the college's comprehensive fees. In addition, each scholar receives two special study stipends (up to $3000 per stipend) to pursue international study and other enrichment opportunities.  Each high school may nominate one or two student for the Belk Scholarship. Golden Door Scholars

Undocumented students may incorrectly assume that they cannot legally attend college in the United States. However, there is no federal law that prohibits the admission of undocumented immigrants to U.S. colleges, public or private.  Golden Door scholarship recipients will receive funding to cover tuition (less other scholarships), room, and board for a four-year degree. Golden Door scholars will also have access to mentors, internships and other career-building opportunities. CHEATHAM-WHITE SCHOLARSHIP AT NORTH CAROLINA A&T

The Cheatham-White Scholarship will provide an outstanding educational experience for students who are exceptional scholars, versatile and well-rounded individuals. Cheatham-White Scholarships will be awarded to students with a broad range of interests, proficient in areas of both the arts and sciences, who demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to service.

To be eligible for selection as a Cheatham-White Scholar, a senior must have a minimum 4.0 or higher weighted cumulative GPA and a minimum score of 1280 SAT or 28 ACT. cumulative GPA.

HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The scholarship programs provide financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.  Scholarship criteria also include high school graduation in spring/summer, commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree, demonstrate critical financial need, be involved in co-curricular and community service activities, and U.S. citizenship.  The student must also have a minimum GPA of 2.0. The scholarships are given to deserving students each year and range in award value from $7,000 to $25,000.

Centinnel Scholarship @NC State
Competitive applicants demonstrate high academic achievement, strong leadership qualities, involvement in extracurricular activities and civic engagement, and an interest in textile-related careers. For scholarship consideration, students must submit a NC State admissions application by the October 15 deadline.  All students
awarded any form of scholarship from the College of Textile must commit to a baccalaureate program of study in the College of Textiles, but a non-textiles major is not required during the scholarship application process. UNC Wilmington Scholarships
A variety of scholarships are available at UNCW.  They have been generously donated in honor of individuals or organizations.  Each of these scholarships has specific and unique criteria.  While some are available to one or more students each academic year, others are renewable and only become available after the current recipient has graduated or becomes ineligible for the scholarship.  Because competition for scholarships is intense, merit scholarships are usually available only to the most outstanding new freshmen and continuing students.  The value of the scholarship will be determined based on annual earnings.

North Carolina A & T State University Scholarships
There are scholarship funds offered for selected incoming students who have been admitted to the university. There is no application process for new students, freshman, or transfer students to apply for university scholarships.To be considered for a university-level scholarship new students must meet the following minimum requirements:  Be admitted to the university; have a minimum 3.0 GPA; have a SAT Composite Score of 1000 (Verbal & Math) or higher; or ACT Composite of 23 (Verbal & Math) or higher.

The UNC Greensboro Guarantee
is a scholarship program for high-achieving graduating seniors in North Carolina, whose families are of a low-socioeconomic status. This scholarship allows those chosen for the program to attend college without much financial burden and covers 4 years of debt free (or very little debt) education - including tuition, room and board. The basic qualifications are listed below:
  • Have been admitted to UNCG at the time of applying
  • North Carolina resident for tuition purposes
  • Received a combined SAT score of a 1000 or above on the Critical Reading and Mathematics sections or an ACT composite score of 21 or above
  • Have a family income that does not exceed 100% of the federal poverty level (a good indicator of students who may qualify are those who are on free or reduced lunch at school
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and qualify for federal student financial aid- priority filing deadline for UNCG is March 1!)

Scholarships by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA)

CHARLIE ADAMS ENDOWED STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
 Purpose: To provide scholarship support for one senior Male high school student athlete participating on the varsity wrestling team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school and one senior Female high school student athlete participating on the varsity cross-country team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school. This award is presented at the NCHSAA Annual Meeting held each May in Chapel Hill. Each recipient receives a $1,500 scholarship award and a commemorative plaque.

 

 

PAT GAINEY STUDENT AWARD
 Purpose: To provide scholarship support for two student-athletes with a focus on need-based applicants. Applicants must be either a Senior, Male high school athlete participating on a varsity baseball team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school within a county of limited financial resources or a Senior, Female student high school athlete participating on a varsity sports team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school within a county of limited financial resources. WIlBURN CLARY MEDAL
Purpose: To provide scholarship support for one Male student athlete high school senior participating on a varsity team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school and one Female student athlete high school senior participating on a varsity team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school. 


TONY CULLEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Purpose: To provide scholarship support for one senior Male high school student athlete participating on the varsity level lacrosse team at a North Carolina High School Athletic Association member high school.
