Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance
I have been a professional opera and classical singer for the past fifteen years. I am also a voice teacher, coach, and lecturer. I currently serve as Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church Kannapolis and Professor of Voice at Catawba College. I have taught at Covenant Classical School in Concord and have been a staff singer in numerous churches across the country. www.broadushamiltontenor.com
My educational philosophy is that students will rise to your level of expectation. Authentic leadership is how I tend to run my rehearsals. I think of myself as less of a teacher and more as a choral director. I am attempting to empower my students by giving them the necessary tools with which they can be successful (ie ear training, sight singing, working in an ensemble).
This month Pop A Cappella are preparing White Winter Hymnal, The Longest Time, and Say Something for upcoming performances at Rotary, Beta Club and NHS ceremonies. They are also building their ensemble skills and working on sight singing and ear training. Class Voice are learning about the functional unity of the singing voice, the nature of sound, and building community by working together in small groups on pop vocal music. This month Hall & Oates are the featured group we are working on. Mixed Chorus class is working on The River Sleeps beneath the sky, God's gonna set 'dis worl on fire, ear training, and sectional rehearsals that promote community.
